NOTES
Decrease: Sl 1, k1, psso: Sl 1 st knitwise wyb, k1, pass slipped st over.
Edge sts: On every row, always purl the 1st st and knit last st through back loop (k1tbl).

Cables Cap (A):
Cable, 2 sts: Skip the next st, knit 2nd st and leave on needle, knit 1st st and slip both sts from left needle.
Cable, 6 sts: Place 3 sts on cable needle and hold in back of work, k3, k3 from cable needle.

Cables Cap (B):
Cable, 2 sts: Skip the next st, knit 2nd st  and leave on needle, knit 1st st and slip both sts from left needle.
Cable, 4 sts: Place 2 sts on cable needle and hold in back of work, k2, k2 from cable needle.

CAP (A)
With U. S. 11 / 8 mm dpn or circular and yarn held double (1 strand each colors 1 and 2), CO 48 sts. Join, being careful not to twist cast-on row; pm for beginning of rnd.

Rnd 1: *K2, p2*; rep * to * around.
Rnd 2: *K2, p2, cable 2 (see Notes above), p2*; rep * to * around.
Rnds 3-5: Work as for Rnd 1.
Rnd 6: Work as for Rnd 2.
Rnds 7-9: Work as for Rnd 1.
Rnd 10: Work as for Rnd 2.
Rnds 11-12: Work as for Rnd 1.
Turn work.
Rnds 13-19: *K6, p2*; rep * to * around.
Rnd 20 (cable rnd): *Cable 6, p2*; rep * to * around.
Rnds 21-44: Work as for Rnds 13-20 until cap measures approx. 11¾ in / 30 cm from cast-on.
Rnd 45: *K6, p2*; rep * to * around.
Change to dpn when necessary for sts to fit around.
Rnd 46: *(K2tog) 3 times, p2tog*; rep * to * around = 24 sts rem.
Rnd 47: (K2tog) around = 12 sts rem.
Cut yarn and draw end through rem sts; tighten. Weave in ends neatly on WS.

FINISHING (A)
With a single strand of color 3 and crochet hook, crochet around upturned edge as follows: Insert hook 2 rnds below edge. Begin at center back with *1 sc between 2 knit sts on cap, ch 2, 1 sc between 2 purl sts, ch 2*; rep * to * around. Cut yarn and fasten off.
Make a pompom (see below) and securely attach to top of cap. Weave in all ends neatly on WS.

CAP (B)
With U. S. 17 / 12 mm dpn or circular and yarn held quadruple (2 strands each colors 1 and 2), CO 36 sts. Join, being careful not to twist cast-on row; pm for beginning of rnd.

Rnd 1: *K2, p1*; rep * to * around.
Rnd 2: *K2, p1, cable 2 (see Notes above), p1*; rep * to * around.
Rnds 3-5: Work as for Rnd 1.
Rnd 6: Work as for Rnd 2.
Rnds 7-9: Work as for Rnd 1.
Turn work. Sl 1st st to right needle. Begin rnd on next st; pm at new beginning of rnd.
Rnds 10-14: *P2, k4*; rep * to * around.
Rnd 15 (cable rnd): *P2, cable 4*; rep * to * around.
Rnds 16-25: Work as for Rnds 11-15 until cap measures approx. 11¾ in / 30 cm from cast-on.
Rnd 26: *P2, k4*; rep * to * around.
Change to dpn when necessary for sts to fit around.
Rnd 27 (dec rnd: *P2tog, k2tog, k2tog*; rep * to * around = 18 sts rem.
Rnd 28: *P1, k2*; rep * to * around.
Rnd 29 (dec rnd): (K2tog) around = 9 sts rem.
Cut yarn and draw end through rem sts; tighten.
Tip: Split the yarn to make it easier to weave in ends on WS.

FINISHING (B)

POMPOM
Use a Clover pompom maker, 3¼ in/ 8.5 cm circumference or two round cardboard templates about 4 in / 10 cm in diameter with a center hole about 1¼ in / 3.5 cm diameter. See illustrations below for details.

COWL
With U. S. 17 / 12 mm needles and yarn held double (1 strand each colors 1 and 2), CO 26 sts.
Row 1 (RS): 1 edge st (see Notes above), *p1, k1*; rep * to * until 1 st rem; 1 edge st.
Row 2 (WS): 1 edge st, *p1, k1*; rep * to * until 1 st rem; 1 edge st.
Rep Rows 1-2 until piece is approx. 27½ in / 70 cm long.
Buttonhole Row (RS): 1 edge st, p1, k1, *p2tog, CO 2 new sts, sl 1, k1, psso, p1, k1, p1, k1* rep * to * once more, p2tog, CO 2 new sts, sl 1, k1, psso, p1, k1, 1 edge st.
Work 3 rows in ribbing as for Row 2.
BO in ribbing.

FINISHING
Weave in all ends neatly on WS. Sew on buttons as shown on illustration below.

Yarn alternative: Please be aware that the gauge (tension), yarn quantity and the shape of the work varies if you use another yarn (even in the same yarn group).
To avoid problems: Read entirely through the pattern before you begin. 
Gauge (tension): Always knit/crochet a gauge swatch according to the recommendations. If you get a different gauge, try with a smaller or larger needle size. If the gauge isn't correct the work may be a different shape and size.
To make it easier to follow the instructions, use a colored pencil or highlighter to mark your size.
Chart: To make it easier to follow the chart, use a ruler under the on-going row.
Tips för hand dyed yarn: Make sure you have enough yarn to complete your project. The colors may vary from time to time. To get a smooth color mix, you can alternate between two skeins: knit two rows from one and two rows from another skein.

In order to find the right size, we recommend that you first measure all measurements directly on the body, according to the tables below. Then you decide the size of the garment yourself, based on how much movement you want the garment to have.

Chest (a), waist (b) and hips (c) are measured around the body. 
Children's clothing is measured in centilong (cl),which is the same as the childs length.
